Q&A with Josh King Madrid, Millennial Influencer, Founder of Team Jet Set

Q) Where did the idea for Team Jet Set come from?

Josh Madrid made a conscious decision to surround himself with people who wanted to win in all aspects of life, those that had a growth mindset and thought outside the box like him. He wanted to create a group of millennial entrepreneurs whose goal was to go beyond the norm and raise the bar.

When I was younger, I didn’t have anyone who had the same mindset as me in my life. It was difficult to connect with people who have the same aspirations and aspirations for a meaningful life as mine.

I had to develop an environment for myself that was positive and where I could find mentors to help guide me towards my own happiness. When friends would tell me that my goals were too small, it made me feel like they were not in touch with what can be achieved in this world, only what they think they can achieve.

Well, the idea came to me when I decided that it was time for me to start creating a healthy environment where people could dream again. In order to make the world a better place, and having a team of people who want to empower others more than anything else, I’ve created a social community.

Q) WHAT WAS THE FIRST STEP YOU TOOK AFTER YOU HAD THE IDEA?

Josh King Madrid: The first step for me was adding consistency to my routine. Too many people say “the more I work out the closer I get to achieving my goals”, but that’s not true. Working out is only one part of a healthy lifestyle and you have to think about all of the other other factors. You have to work hard at every aspect of your life, including your personal brand.

Nowadays age doesn’t determine someone’s ability to succeed or create successful projects like Jet Set, it comes down to experience and work ethic. The second step was becoming consistent with the brand.

People don’t look too kindly on newbies who are acting cocky but will sleep on any opportunity that comes up. Showing that dedication combined with keeping true to the pillars of our brand has allowed me tons of opportunities and success in many different facets of my life.

Q) WHAT’S THE BIGGEST MISTAKE YOU’VE MADE AND WHAT DID YOU LEARN FROM IT?

In order to grow your brand, you need to focus on what you’re the best at. But that doesn’t mean trying to do everything throughout your startup. Your marketing and sales can become stale, which is why it’s important to try and focus on what works for you personally as well as your team. We also believe in working together as a team which ultimately makes our work more powerful because of its combined impact.

Q) TELL ME ABOUT AN ACCOMPLISHMENT THAT SHAPED YOUR CAREER?

One small accomplishment in someones life led Josh Madrid to realize that he could accomplish anything. Since then, he has worked hard and won many races and sponsorships, as well as managed to gain the trust of many athletes. The accomplishment shaped his belief to 1000%, elevating his confidence to the highest levels possible. He believes it is vital to treat everything in life as a win, even if it’s just a small victory. Once you get used to winning, nothing can bring you down.

Q) WHAT’S THE BEST ADVICE YOU’VE EVER RECEIVED?

As a student, Josh King Madrid felt the need to act on his dad’s advice of making today the day he found something meaningful to him. Without this conversation from his father, King would have never realized how much his life and his future would change for the better. He says when he does reflect back on what he did today, it will be because he’s glad that he did it.

Delayed gratification is one of the biggest takeaways that has helped me reach success, and it’s beneficial for anyone reading this to take this trait and master it. If you’re craving for something now, or are looking to find a better job now, or want to go to school sooner instead of building a business from the ground-up, then your potential will never be reached.

A lot of people have “what-ifs” because they make decisions impulsively in the present moment without considering how those decisions would affect them in the future. Don’t do what you want right this instant and pay attention to what you need to do right now as a stepping stone on your path up. Sacrifice and do things others can’t so that one day you can have what others don’t. You must have a long term plan and purpose with your actions and decisions every single day.
